My first plumbing problem

There’s something strange going on with the tub in one of the bathrooms.
No hot water. Cold water comes out nice and strong like it’s supposed to, but when I turn on the hot water, there’s only a small dribble.
Hot water to the bathroom sink is fine. Hot water to every else in the house is fine. Just no hot water to the bath.
Not sure what’s going on, but I guess I’ll be learning a little bit about plumbing.

  1. I’m a bit of a mr. fixit in my home, as well as with my rentals.
    hot water pipes/tubes are separate to every faucet, This means, if your bath tub faucet is dribbling a little, it has no water pressure, and the line itself is either clogged, or “intentionally off”
    usually to tubs, bathrooms there is a door that leads to the plumbing that feeds to your bathtubs, showers, and sinks in the bathroom. there is almost ALWAYS a shutoff valve for hot AND cold water going to each faucet.
    It’s highly possible this particular line is shut off due to leaking at the faucet.. Something YOU may not know about, because the hot water was OFF the entire time.
    So here’s my prediction.
    You will find the hot water to the bathtub was turned off, because the faucet itself drips endlessly due to corrosion inside the bathtub faucet, because of this to repair it, you will have to turn off both cold and hot water and find the leak, repair it, then you will have both hot and water again in your tub.

  2. Eugene, I hadnt read back in your blog history to realize this was a brand new house.
    If you never tested the hot water before, and you’re just finding this out, someone forgot to turn the hot water on to the bathtub.
    I suggest calling the builder warrenty ppl if you can’t fix this.

  3. Thanks. I suspect it’s something more along the lines of a clog in the line or the tap not working properly for some reason. The hot water was working fine a few days ago when I was cleaning out the tub, and then discovered it not working the other day.
