Blognic location

Just so that everyone is clear on where to meet, I thought over by the Picnic Center would be a good place for us to gather and picnic. If you look at the JICP map, it’s kind of smack dab in the middle. After you enter the park, follow the road straight around the bend and past the first stop sign. Up ahead on the right will be a large parking area for the off-leash area. Just past this on the left side is the Picnic Center. There’s a kid’s playground and a building where the bathrooms and some vending machines are. For Google Earth saavy users, it’s at roughly 32.733°N and 79.99°W, although it won’t help much as there’s a big cloud right over the aerial photo of the park.

I’ll try to get there a little early and put some signs up.

  1. Picnic starts around noonish or whenever people start showing up. I’ll probably be there a little bit before that to put up some signage.

  2. I asked Heather earlier but haven’t gotten a response. I plan on bringing a gallon of water, a gallon of sweet tea and a variety of sodas. Any idea on how many I should bring? Thanks in advance.

  3. There’s 11 names on the list, and an unknown number of associated family members. I’d guess about 3 or 4 bottles of pop should do. I can bring some extras along also just in case.

  4. No, no, I can bring more. You’re already bringing a cake, I think that’s what I read. I’m just bringing drinks and cups. I’ll bring juice also since my kids don’t drink soda. So that’ll be a gallon of water, a gallon of tea, a big bottle of apple juice and about 6 or so bottles of soda. I can buy extra caffeine free Mountain Dew (tastes the same as regular Mt. Dew) and if no one wants any of that it’ll go to hubby. The other sodas will be a mixture of regular and diet since I have no idea what anyone drinks and all I drink is water. LOL
Heather has my cell number so if you and her think more drinks will be needed call me and I’ll stop and get more on the way if needed.

  5. I was hoping to be able to make it this afternoon to JICP to meet (and eat!) with everyone, but I don’t think I’ll be able to make it due to obligations on this side of the world in the early afternoon – and I’m not sure how to make it to that side of the world (and back) in the amount of time that I have! If I can, I’ll throw a dog and some food in the car – and head over. Otherwise, I hope everyone has a great time.
