Tomorrow I have the task of interviewing a well known and prominent physicist in my field for a position here.
This is a strange position for me. I’ve never interviewed anybody before, and usually it would be me in the interviewee spot and him in the interviewer position. Admittedly, I’m a little nervous about what kinds of things to ask him and talk to him about. I have a few things, but I’ll need to come up with a more to fill up the 30 minute time slot I have with him.
This should be interesting.

It’s often funny how long 30 min can feel like sometimes! I usually just try to focus on their work – and ask questions, folks love talking about their stuff. I’ve also found that if you’re passionate about something, rambling on about that can work for awhile as well. If you’re lucky, the 30 mins will seem like 5…and you’ll be wishing you had more time!
Eugene,
Years ago I was named Director of Tourism for the State of Missouri and I realized..I don’t know very much about state government.
I set up an appointment to go and meet the Governor and ended up with his Chief of Staff. I asked one or two questions and then she rambled on for nearly an hour on what the Governor wanted to do, how he would do it, background on why he did certain things and some histories on main participants I would be dealing with.
Later I heard she gave a glowing report on how informed I was.
Let the person talk. Good luck.
