Blognic location

Just so that everyone is clear on where to meet, I thought over by the Picnic Center would be a good place for us to gather and picnic. If you look at the JICP map, it’s kind of smack dab in the middle. After you enter the park, follow the road straight around the bend and past the first stop sign. Up ahead on the right will be a large parking area for the off-leash area. Just past this on the left side is the Picnic Center. There’s a kid’s playground and a building where the bathrooms and some vending machines are. For Google Earth saavy users, it’s at roughly 32.733°N and 79.99°W, although it won’t help much as there’s a big cloud right over the aerial photo of the park.

I’ll try to get there a little early and put some signs up.

Blognic treats

4 days away and I haven’t even thought about what I’m going to bring for the picnic. A couple others have so here’s what there is to look forward to:

  • Dan – Deviled eggs
  • Heather – sesame ginger pasta salad (possibly)
  • Me – Pineapple upside-down cake (a picnic needs something sweet to enjoy)
  • Vera – Chicken, potato salad, and apple or cherry pie

I have some serious picnic meal planning to do tonight.

Blogger picnic planning

Just to kick things up again and summarizing from the comments in Heather’s initial post she’s thrown out a date of September 23 to have an afternoon blogger and family picnic at JICP

Interested parties:

Anybody else interested? There’s a nice shady picnic area kind of opposite the dog park area (the first left past the first stop sign you encounter once you enter the park) that would be a good spot for us. We can all bring our own picnic lunches or do a pot-luck thing (or a little bit of both). Should be a lot of fun!

The next gathering

Heather raises a very important subject this morning: Where and when to have our next blogger gathering. A Picnic Gathering at that.

I vote for a beach picnic. Go leave a comment and let’s get the planning started!

AFK

We are off on a bit of a mini-vacation to the Washington DC area. If I don’t manage to find a place to get my online fix around there, I’ll be back next week with pictures of our adventures.
