Local Irish pub overrun by blogger horde

Now there’s a good headline.

There was a good sized turnout for tonight’s gathering which made it very cozy and fun. I think there were maybe about 18 or so people there. I got there a little late (at least I can say I wasn’t the last one there…Jared wins that honour) and was surprised at just how many people were there. Madra Rua turned out to be an excellent gathering place that I’ll have to go back to because they were out of fish & chips when I got there (disappointing). Hopefully we didn’t run the waitress too ragged tonight.

It was nice to see a few new faces there tonight. Got to meet Dave Moulton (who’s blog I’ve been enjoying reading lately), Josh from Today’s Special and Microbial Lab Pam. We even had a frequent commenter (can he be called a blogger groupie?) show up for the gathering. Looking forward to the podcast Geoff ends up making with his interviews from tonight too.

Many eyes were glued to the TV watching the Patriots/Chargers game, which the Patriots ended up winning by a field goal much to Jared’s dismay.

Thanks to Heather for putting tonight’s gathering together. It was great seeing everyone again!

Update: Joan and Chuck have pictures up. Silly me forgot the camera in the car again this time.

Irish pub invaded by bloggers!

Maybe I should save that title for Monday’s post…

Looks like there will be a pretty good turnout for tomorrow’s blogger gathering at Madra Rua. I’ve never been there before, but I’m told it’s pretty good. I’m counting on a decently poured Guiness tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone again.

In the meantime, there is plenty for me to do this weekend. Stuff to do in the garage, dog class for Simba, revisions to make on the paper I submitted among other things. There’s also some blogging I need to catch up on too.

Definitely more later.

Budding claymation animators

My sister sent me this link to a claymation video my 11 year old neice worked on for a school project. Not bad for a couple of 11 year olds.

New Year’s Beach Day

Definitely couldn’t pass up a stroll on Folly Beach in 20°C weather, even though it was kind of overcast and breezy. The wind was whipping up a lot of waves that surfers were taking advantage of. We even ran into some people doing the Polar Bear swim thing. Personally I don’t think you can really call it a Polar Bear swim unless there’s snow and ice around you, but for around here I guess the water’s chilly enough. Anyway we had a nice little walk with the dogs. Simba seemed to enjoy his first trip to the beach, digging up shells and trying to eat them.
