What I want to do when I grow up

I’ve decided what I want to do when I grow up.

I want to be one of those senior citizens that goes touring about the country in a big tour bus full of other senior citizens, and then descends on an unsuspecting restaurant in the middle of the dinner rush.

Then I will take my camera and take pictures of the horrified expression on the faces of the people manning the front desk as the tour bus disgorges dozens of invading seniors. I’ll take these pictures and assemble them in an online photo gallery to share with other senior groups. They could even send in their submissions and I could post a “Best Horrified Expression” of the month or something fun like that. And then I’ll select one for Best Expression of the Year. Maybe even award a prize for it.

Yesterday this very thing happened as I was pulling up to California Dreaming around 6ish. I don’t know if there was any picture taking though. Not only was there the invading horde of seniors, there were also very formally dressed up teens on prom dates spilling out of assorted limousines. I suppose should have known better than to go there during the dinner rush, but my wife and her friends wanted to go there. Naturally we ended up going elsewhere.

Astrology meets the colour wheel

Everybody knows (or should know) that Pantone is all about colours. And what happens when colours meet astrology?

You get Pantone ColorAstrology.

So, according to them, my colour is Earth Red (Pantone 18-1631): Serious, Practical, Purposeful.

I guess it fits pretty well.

Textbooks anyone?

Anybody wanna buy some textbooks?

One of the problems with having a permanent student in the house is that textbooks start accumulating up the wazoo. I’m about done with my student days for now, and have all the books I need. But the wife has been going to school since forever and doesn’t seem to want to quit. Just about all our bookshelves are filled with textbooks of various kinds.

Guesses as to what her major was? Bio actually, but you’d never know from the texts sitting on our shelves.

Email or leave a comment if you’re interested in any of these. Or just buy it off Amazon. All items will be shipped USPS Priority Mail upon receipt of payment.

Payment via Paypal accepted.

Ooops. Duh.

Ok, just give me a big dopeslap. Accidentally deleted my weblog directory while cleaning out some stuff.

Thank goodness for backups and MT. Weblog was restored by doing a simple rebuild from MT, and image files were recovered from backups.

5 years on the job

Yesterday marked my 5th year working here. It’s the longest I’ve ever worked at a single place in my short career. I have to say, it’s been a very pleasant 5 years. I think I’ve accomplished a good deal, although probably not as much as I should have or would have liked. My wife says I shoud make up a 5 year plan for the next 5 years. And earlier this year my boss asked me what I planned to accomplish this year.

Tough thing to do for someone who generally doesn’t plan anything more than 10 minutes in advance.

At the start of 2004, I listed some of the things I hoped to get accomplished this year. At the rate things are going, I don’t know how much research I’ll be able to get done or published this year. Maybe that should be part of my 5 year plan.

Definitely on track with the other items though. Haven’t really done much with spiffing up the weblog though.

I’ll have to think about this 5 year plan thing and come up with something.
