Weekend happenings

Lots of stuff going on this weekend to keep me and the dogs busy.

Most of Saturday will be taken up with CSCLRC‘s Spring Fling Match out on Wadmalaw Island. Should be a fun time with lots of dogs to play with. Following that is the club’s board meeting and planning for the next event. It’s going to be a long but fun day I think.

Sunday is the next blogger gathering over at Ten-Seventeen out in West Ashley in the Quadrangle shopping center (next door to the Piggly Wiggly over by Citadel Mall). They make a great goulash there. Looking forward to seeing fellow bloggers again. Should be a good time.

Then there’s the ever present talk I have to finish up for the SIIM 2007 annual meeting and the accompanying paper that needs to be submitted to JDI. There’s not too much left to do for the talk so I should be able to wrap that up well before the meeting. Don’t want to be one of those people that are finishing up their talk in the speaker ready-room just before they give their presentation.

February blogger gathering

Before everyone forgets, the question of where and when a February blogger gathering might occur still seems to be up in the air.

I’m up for something going during the next couple of weeks at 10-17 over in West Ashley by Citadel Mall. It’s a nice non-smoking joint that serves some pretty decent food. Big John’s Tavern on East Bay was also suggested as a possible venue. The Blind Tiger Pub might also be a good spot to have a gathering.

The 17-19 weekend is out for jj and myself. Any preference for a weekday or weekend gathering? If not I’ll just pick a time and place and see if anybody shows up. You guys can just meet me there 🙂

Blogger party #2!

Get ready for it! The second Lowcountry blog party is happening in about two weeks on July 13. This time we’ll all be congregating over at Sunfire Grill & Bistro in West Ashley. Come by and join the crowd!

Charleston Blog Party

Yesterday’s blog party was a lot of fun with a pretty good turnout of interesting people to meet and chat with (and with surprisingly little geek speak!). I think everyone had a good time, so hopefully more of these will be scheduled later.

I got there a few minutes late because of the train

Delayed by the train

The flag at the SC Aquarium was lowered to half-mast, but nobody knew who had died.
Dan Conover, one of the masterminds of the operation was one of the first people I met.

One of the great things about Toucan Reef is the view of the new Cooper River bridge

The new Cooper River Bridge

This is part of the old bridge stuck in the mud

Attendance was pretty good with a much more diverse crowd than I had expected

Joan from Walk This Way even managed to get us some schwag for the party

Mustang Rolling brought his car along

so everyone headed over to pose with it

I didn’t get a group picture, but everyone else did.

Vera from Vera’s Crafty Blog showed off some of her work

Everyone enjoyed the tasty food at Toucan Reef and everyone else’s company

Sunset treated us to a cool view of the bridge and the Yorktown

Charleston blogger dinner

This sounds ilke it could be fun. A Lowcountry blogger get-together scheduled for 6 PM, May 16 at Toucan Reef. I’ll have to try to see if I can make it.
