Why is the fridge leaking?

Pro tip: When you buy things, keep the manual. The ones that have exploded diagrams of all the bits inside and a list of what all those parts are are especially useful

I have one of those refrigerators that has a water dispenser in the door. No ice though, it’s not that fancy.

After not using the water dispenser for a long time, I finally decided to replace the water filter. While dispensing several large cups of water through the filter to prime it, Connie noticed there was water leaking from the fridge.

Uh oh.

Found water leaking from the bottom of the door behind a cover, so out came the screw driver and off came the panel where I found a valve type thing, a couple of hoses and a plastic reservoir. After running a bit more water to see where the leak was coming from, it looked like the water was coming from a tiny pinhole leak in the resevoir. Hard to see, but it’s there when there’s water pressure.

Fortunately for me, I like to keep the manuals around for most things I have, especially things like appliances that have replacable parts. Looking up the part number for the water reservoir was pretty simple, and a search on Amazon turned up a few sources

When it arrives, I’ll hopefully have refrigerator door water again!

2013 CSCLRC show

The last weekend of January means it’s time for the Charleston Kennel Club dog show, and the CSCLRC Supported Entry that goes along with it.

I made it over there around noon, and the first thing I noticed was that the dog show in general wasn’t nearly as busy or full of dogs as it has been in previous years. I’m told the number of Labs registered for this year’s Supported Entry is lower than last year, but last year was unusually large too, so this year is probably about normal.

The weather was nice this year again, and there were a lot of good and happy looking Labs.

Best of Breed winner today was Ch Belquest Deep Run Easy Peasy, a very good looking Lab.

First post!

Woot! First post in my shiny new blog home!

Stay tuned. More to come.

If you’re looking for my older posts, you’ll find it back there.

Moving time

After a couple of months running with MovableType 5 at blog.ab4ug.net, I’ve decided that it’s time to close up shop here and start off fresh and clean.

This will be the last entry here at blog.imabug.net, but the site and archives will remain. The blog here has been active for nearly 10 years and has been through numerous MovableType upgrades starting somewhere around 2.1. The database has seen beta versions, upgrades, downgrades, switched back and forth between MT and OpenMelody at least a couple of times and seems to be showing its age these days.

Time to start fresh. New posts will show up at imablog.net, a shiny new installation of MovableType 5.2.3 with a brand new database.

Next on the air

Now that the HF radio is on the air, the next things I need to get set up are the VHF radio, the OpenBeacon and the Softrock receiver.

I’ll need to get/make suitable antennas and get coax for each of them.

The OpenBeacon needs to be reprogrammed, but it works. I can plug in a USB cable and watch it blink out slow Morse code (which is still almost too fast for me to copy). I can also hear it on the HF radio at 10.130 MHz. I’ll need to make up a suitable antenna for it.

The VHF radio should be all set to go once I get an antenna set up and hooked up to it.
Just need to get around to putting the last transformer on the Softrock receiver and make up the external connections to get it on the air.

I’ll need to make up a shopping list for the hamfest next week.
