Hallowe’en thoughts

We’re not quite sure yet how we’re going to dress the dogs for Hallowe’en this year, but we spotted these cool jack-o-lantern bandannas at Superpetz today and couldn’t resist them.

Mostly finished with the garage

Finally starting to see the end of the latest garage project. I’ve just about finished creating all the shelves and hangers we need (for now). They all fit on the rails and nothing’s come unglued (yet). All I need to do now is put a couple coats of polyurethane on the shelves to make them look nice. Then we just need to arrange them so we can pull the car into the garage without smacking into anything.

Blognic’ing

Mike, Heather and Jared already blogged about the blognic, and it seemed like everyone had a good time hanging out. I even got interviewed by Lucia from the Post & Courier. Even Nala had a good time and got lots of attention and compliments on how well behaved she was.

It took a little bit for people to figure out where to meet, but once people started spotting each other, it didn’t take long for us to find a couple of picnic tables and start setting things up.

Mike had a tasty little spread going. The chicken was tasty.

There was a little bit of geekspeek going on.

Mostly just hanging out and talking about various things

I find Vera’s ability to knit and talk at the same time amazing. I think I’d probably end up stabbing myself if I tried to do that.

Nala loved all the attention, but I think she loved going after the bits of cake and cookies the kids would drop even more.

Next potential storm?

Lest people start getting complacent with the last few storms steering away from the east coast and fall weather upon us, this is from this morning’s Tropical Weather Outlook.

A LARGE TROPICAL WAVE…ACCOMPANIED BY A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE…IS LOCATED ABOUT 600 HUNDRED MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHERNMOST CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. SOME GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT THE SYSTEM IS POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS IT MOVES TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST OR NORTHWEST AT AROUND 15 MPH.

Just so that everyone is clear on where to meet, I thought over by the Picnic Center would be a good place for us to gather and picnic. If you look at the JICP map, it’s kind of smack dab in the middle. After you enter the park, follow the road straight around the bend and past the first stop sign. Up ahead on the right will be a large parking area for the off-leash area. Just past this on the left side is the Picnic Center. There’s a kid’s playground and a building where the bathrooms and some vending machines are. For Google Earth saavy users, it’s at roughly 32.733°N and 79.99°W, although it won’t help much as there’s a big cloud right over the aerial photo of the park.

I’ll try to get there a little early and put some signs up.
