Musseling at Ted’s

I just love mussels. It was a big bowl full of them for tonight’s Friday Night dinner at Ted’s Butcherblock. So delicious.

Sausage & Baguette Stuffed Pork Loin with Tomato Butter / Smoked Local Farmers Market Ratatouille / Potato & Sage Gratin / Pavlova with Local Kiwi Couli & Cayenne Chocolate Ganache

Loved the pork loin, and the smoked ratatouille was excellent, as was the gratin.
Pavlova
Had no idea there were kiwi fruits being grown locally. The pavlova was pretty sweet and not quite to the liking of my dinner companions, but I liked it.
The pictures were taken with the new phone. They turned out fairly decent. The noise is definitely noticeable in the full resolution images, but not unexpected because of the low lighting.

Dinner with friends

Brought friends with me to Friday Night Dinner at Ted’s Butcherblock and had a pretty good time with Yaenette, Theresa, Clay and Kenny this evening. During dessert, Clay and Kenny got distracted showing off their cell phones to an older couple next to us, Theresa and Yaenette started talking horses, and me, I just happily polished off my dessert. This week’s meal was pretty good, especially the shrimp. I don’t think it was quite as knock-your-socks-off good as some of the previous dinners, but still pretty tasty.

Pan Roasted Chicken Breast with Dill Butter / Local Heirloom Tomato, Havarti Cheese and Fennel Tart / Rita’s Roots Local Roasted Turnips, Purple Carrots & Beet Greens / Baked Pear with Vanilla Custard Sauce & Almond Caramel

I’d have been happy with just a big slice of the tomato tart. The rest of the dinner was pretty fab too.

Cuban-Style Braised Pork / Smoked Anaheim, Chipotle & Monteray Jack Potato Gratin / Tomato, Black Bean & Cilantro Salad / Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding with Apple Caramel

A pretty good dinner this week, although I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had remembered to say hold the cilantro.
