Charleston Worldwide Photowalk

Another Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk is coming up soon. This year it will be October 11 and one is already set up for downtown Charleston. I’ve participated in a few previous photo walks and they’ve always been fun events. It’s a chance to meet and hang out with some fellow photographers, explore the city and get some great shots.

Previous years have seen other photowalks in North Charleston and Summerville, so if you aren’t able to make it to the Charleston photowalk, try to organize one near you.

Go sign up for a photowalk near you! You won’t regret it.

Charleston World Wide Photo Walk

Join the rest of the world in some photowalking fun! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or trying to figure out your first camera, come walk with people who love photography!

In Charleston you have two photo walks to choose from on October 1. The first one in the morning starts at the Visitors Center on Meeting St and will wander down towards Liberty Square and the Aquarium.

The second one is in the evening at Waterfront Park at Concord and Vendue Range. If the weather is cooperative, there should be some nice shots with some late afternoon/early evening light. Then when it gets dark it will be time to have some fun playing with light.

Feel free to join either one or both! Sign up for whichever photowalk you want to participate in. Find one in your city to join!

Photowalking

The 2010 edition of the Worldwide Photowalk is coming up soon (July 24) to a location near you. Helping to organize last year’s photo walk was a lot of fun. This year there will be two photowalks happening in the Charleston area.

The Charleston photowalk is meeting downtown at the Powder Magazine in the morning and is being lead by Adam Barret.

Later on in the afternoon, I’ll be leading the North Charleston photo walk starting at the North Charleston Riverfront Park and then wandering through the old Navy base.
Feel free to join one or both photowalks!

Worldwide Photowalking

Organizing a photowalk can be a lot of work. Yesterday was the Worldwide Photowalk, with photowalks organized in 900 locations. I helped put together the Charleston, SC photowalk which turned out to be a resounding success. Had about 45 people show up for the photowalk, and I think we even picked up a few people along the way. Had a great time wandering around the peninsula taking pictures and meeting fellow photography enthusiasts.

The day started off pretty nice, but started to get pretty warm towards the end of the walk. I finished off the day with close to 150 photos that I eventually culled down to 111 which I posted in my photo gallery.

This one turned out to be one of my favourites. At Elliot St and Bedon’s Alley, there’s a shell of an old building that now serves as a parking lot. I was in there looking around and saw this through one of the windows.

A photograph of a window in a brick wall. A planter with some vines growing is sitting on the window sill. Through the window is part of a door and window of a building across the alley.

The top of the Cumberland parkade offered some pretty good views as well.

Quite happy with the way the photowalk turned out. I’ll have to try to find some time to organize more of them.
