Charleston Worldwide Photowalk

Another Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk is coming up soon. This year it will be October 11 and one is already set up for downtown Charleston. I’ve participated in a few previous photo walks and they’ve always been fun events. It’s a chance to meet and hang out with some fellow photographers, explore the city and get some great shots.

Previous years have seen other photowalks in North Charleston and Summerville, so if you aren’t able to make it to the Charleston photowalk, try to organize one near you.

Go sign up for a photowalk near you! You won’t regret it.

Charleston World Wide Photo Walk

Join the rest of the world in some photowalking fun! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or trying to figure out your first camera, come walk with people who love photography!

In Charleston you have two photo walks to choose from on October 1. The first one in the morning starts at the Visitors Center on Meeting St and will wander down towards Liberty Square and the Aquarium.

The second one is in the evening at Waterfront Park at Concord and Vendue Range. If the weather is cooperative, there should be some nice shots with some late afternoon/early evening light. Then when it gets dark it will be time to have some fun playing with light.

Feel free to join either one or both! Sign up for whichever photowalk you want to participate in. Find one in your city to join!

Worldwide Photo Walk #4

The 4th edition of the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk is coming! Now with twice the photowalking goodness!

This year’s event has been pushed back to the first weekend of October, which is a good thing for those of us dealing with summer heat. It has also been expanded to two days, either October 1 or 2.

There are currently two photo walks set up for Charleston, both on October 1. The first one is lead by Adam Barrett and starts at 9:45AM at the Charleston Visitor’s Center on Meeting St.

The second one (lead by yours truly) will be an evening walk starting at at 6PM Waterfront Park. Afterwards we can celebrate with drinks at the Griffon Pub.

Feel free to sign up for either one or both by going to the World Wide Photo Walk site. Click or scan the QR codes above to go to the respective photo walk page.

Photowalking^2

Yesterday was a day full of photowalking with both the Charleston and North Charleston instances of the Worldwide Photowalk. One ambitious walker also did the Worldwide photowalk in Summerville, making 3 in one day. Stamina.

It was a hot day for photowalking too. The buildings downtown provided shade and respite from the sun, which made things mostly tolerable. By the time I got to Waterfront Park though, I was very tempted to join the throngs of kids playing in the fountain.

Refreshing

Despite the heat, there was a pretty decent turnout for both photowalks.

Assembled photowalkers

The Charleston photowalk started off in front of the Powder Magazine downtown on Cumberland and wandered a route that took us down to Tradd and then back up to Market St through Waterfront Park. Yeah, that fountain was very tempting.

The North Charleston photowalk that I was leading started off at the Riverfront Park in North Charleston and wandered through part of the old Navy base. At one point, one of those big heavily armoured military vehicles drove past a bunch of us. How could anybody resist photographing that? Not long after that some security dude drove by and said we weren’t allowed to take photographs of them.

Fortunately the rest of the photowalk went off without any other incidents. Much fun. Pork Trifecta at EVO afterwards was very yummy after all that photowalking.
