Nala likes for us to drive her around so she can impress all the guy dogs. People get a kick out of it too.
A rare moment
Simba’s growing up quick. At 4 months, he’s already 40 pounds, quadrupling his weight since we brought him home two months ago. I think he’s probably got about 50 or 60 more pounds of growing left to do. Here they are in a rare moment where one of them isn’t pouncing on the other and wrestling. That’s Simba on the left, and big sister Nala on the right.
At the dog park
Friday we took Simba into the dog park for the first time. He’s been there before, but this was the first time he was allowed to go inside.
I thought maybe with all the other dogs around Simba might be all over the place checking them out. Nope, instead he and Nala spent most of the time doing the same thing they do inside: wrestle, chase each other and play bitey-face.
There was much dog greeting done, but after that all Simba wanted to do was chase Nala and wrestle with her.
Every now and then they’d take a break to see what the other dogs were doing, but then it was right back at the wrestling.
In the end, we had a tired little puppy, which is why we go to the dog park in the first place.
Bitey-face is a common activity among labs (and maybe other dogs too) where they just lie down near each other and play-bite at the other dog’s snout.
Pet entertainment
Hmm, I just leave Animal Planet on for the dogs to watch when we’re gone. Maybe I should let them listen to DogCatRadio too. Been listening to it for a few minutes now, and so far most of what they’ve played is pretty middle of the road soft rock. Nothing I wouldn’t mind listening too, and I’m sure the dogs wouldn’t mind either. They seem to like watching what happens on TV though.
DoggieNews is an interesting blog though. Lots of neat dog related news bits to be found here. For example, around here I’ve noticed there now are a number of small companies started up that will come your house and scoop your dog(s) poop for you. Did you know these people also have a trade association? They do, and it’s among the many tidbits of news at DoggieNews. The fact that someone would want to scoop poop for a living is interesting in itself. That they got together to form a trade association I find even more intriguing.
