Charleston Eats: Vickery’s Bar and Grill

Jerk chicken sandwich with fries and gravy.

Jerk chicken sandwich from Vickery's

Sandwich was ok. Note quite the jerk flavour I was expecting. The plantains were good. Loved the fries and gravy. It’s been a long time since I’ve had fries and gravy. Will have to go back more often now that I know I can get my fix there.

Charleston Eats: 17 North

Hit up 17 North for Charleston Restaurant Week this evening. Nice place, good food, a little on the loud side though.

A very thick, rich and tasty butternut squash bisque

There was a ribeye involved as well, but the picture was too out of focus. Guess I’ll have to go back.

Dessert ended up in my belly before I remembered to take a picture.

Charleston Eats: Sinless Raw Food

Found these chocolate bars made by Sinless Raw Food at Local Market and Coffee Bar yesterday, so I thought I’d try them out. They’re made in a little building just behind Local with lots of organic ingredients and sweetened with erythritol and stevia.

It doesn’t have quite the rich mouth feel of regular chocolate and has kind of a minty-cool (minus the minty) kind of sweetness that’s different from sugar sweetness. Still, it’s not too bad. Has a nice chocolate taste, and it doesn’t blow up my blood glucose like regular chocolate does. I could get used to eating them. They’re a little on the pricey side though. A nice splurge-y little treat I suppose.
